Jean was the first home health aide hired by Cypress at Home. She had been a long-term private duty caregiver for a couple at Cypress Cove, so she was already familiar with the campus, staff and residents.
“I am happy to work at Cypress Cove because there is a family atmosphere and I feel comfortable here,” Jean said. “The residents are just wonderful, the landscaping is beautiful, inside the buildings are clean and well kept.”
Jean’s duties and responsibilities include providing safe, competent care in accordance with the client’s care plan and helping the patient maintain good personal hygiene. She may assist with meals and routine housekeeping tasks and support the client when they are walking or exercising. She provides encouragement and engages the patient appropriately in activities to help them stay alert and active. Jean is instrumental in communicating important information with the patient, their family members, and other caregivers as well as coordinating services and completing necessary documentation.
In addition to caring for residents at Cypress Cove, Jean also cares for community clients in Lee County.
Jean described one of her fondest memories and the inspiration for continuing to provide exceptional care: “Years ago, I was assigned to a client who is still here at Cypress Cove. I turned up to work and she asked me to help her repot her roses. This was not on her care plan, and this is not normally done by caregivers, but I got the job done. Months later, I saw her walking down the hallway looking at me with a big smile. She told me that I should come and see the lovely roses that came from the plants I repotted. I was impressed to see the joy on her face. This gave me a new meaning and purpose to work in a retirement community like Cypress Cove. I realized that I could bring happiness to someone by doing small but meaningful things.”
We appreciate Jean for always going above and beyond what is expected!
